That’s why we allow you to exchange any latex layer 3" or less for a different firmness level of the same thickness and type within six months of purchase.

The benefit doesn't end there. The reality is that every mattress wears out over time, and you can replace any component for any reason at a discounted rate for the life of the mattress.

Most items are handmade to order at our factory in Delta, BC, Canada, with an average lead time of 5-10 business days. The total delivery time (lead time + transit time) averages 2-3 weeks to most areas of Canada. If you're in a hurry, please get in touch with us before placing your order. Free local pickup is also available.

All mattresses thicker than 6" come with a top-zippered cover, ship partially assembled and require basic assembly. The base layer(s) are assembled in the cover in our factory, and any additional layers are zipped into the mattress at home. Please exercise caution when opening to avoid damage.

Nearly two decades ago, we pioneered a vertical zoning system designed to minimize base resistance and maximize pressure relief. Our 12" mattress is built entirely from six stackable 2" layers of 100% organic Dunlop latex for maximum pressure relief. This multi-layer design always begins with a Firm foundation and can be tailored with an unparalleled range of options, allowing you to fine-tune your mattress for your unique body type, sleep style, and comfort preferences.

Transitional Base

Every mattress starts with a Firm base layer, creating a durable and supportive foundation. The second layer reinforces this stability and is almost always Firm as well, ensuring your mattress has the structure needed to resist bottoming out over time. In very rare cases, side sleepers with highly pronounced pressure points may consider Medium here to reduce resistance—but for most, Firm is strongly recommended. A Soft layer is never placed in either of the bottom two positions.

Transition Layer

The third layer is known as the transition layer, and it serves as the bridge between your solid foundation and the comfort system above. Medium is the most common choice in this position, offering a balanced feel that blends support with a touch of give. Sleepers seeking a firmer, more resilient mattress may continue with Firm here, while those chasing the plushest possible feel—particularly lighter-weight individuals—might experiment with a Soft layer.

Transitional Comfort

As you move higher into the mattress, the layers become more responsive to your body and sleeping style. The fourth layer, often called the transitional comfort layer, plays a big role in defining your mattress’s personality. Side sleepers usually benefit most from Soft, which eases shoulder and hip pressure, while back sleepers or those who enjoy a slightly firmer surface often go with Medium. Firm is rarely used this close to the surface, but can still work for those who want a dense, supportive build.

Comfort Layer

The fifth layer sits directly beneath the top surface, focusing on delivering comfort while maintaining balance with the layers below. This position is almost always Soft, which adds contouring and reduces joint strain. Medium may occasionally be chosen for sleepers who prefer a steadier feel, but Firm is very seldom used at this level since it reduces pressure relief and softening benefits.

Comfort Layer

The sixth and final layer is the one you’ll feel most directly. It is always Soft, completing the mattress with a plush, pressure-relieving finish that adapts beautifully to your body throughout the night. Even firm mattress builds finish with a Soft top, ensuring comfort is never compromised. And if you ever want to adjust the feel, our top-zippered organic wool and cotton cover not only keeps the surface breathable and cool, but also makes layer exchanges simple and convenient.

FAQ

What is the difference between Dunlop and Talalay latex?

The primary difference between the two types of latex is centred around the vacuum and flash-freezing stage of the manufacturing process. This step creates a less dense, more consistent latex but with a catch. To compensate for the reduction in density, you need to increase the consistency of the latex mix. That is why most Talalay is mixed with SBR (Synthetic Rubber), and there is no commercially available GOLS Talalay latex.

What type of Dunlop latex do you use?

All Dunlop latex used in our mattress is GOLS-certified organic. The primary criteria for GOLS certification are:

the organic latex content must by 95% or greater.
no synthetic latex can be used

Additionally, all latex is strenuously tested for harmful substances, VOC's

Dunlop is the original process of manufacturing natural rubbers and remains the optional process for 100% natural and organic latex products. Dunlop is the only process that has commercially available GOLS-certified organic latex products.

What is the best type of latex for me?

We carry the best natural (Organic Dunlop) and blended (Talalay) latex types and price them the same so you can make a choice based solely on the best fit.

Dunlop is more natural, denser, and supportive. Talalay is softer and more consistent but only comes in smaller sizes. For example, a King must be made with glued pieces, and all our mattresses are glue-free, so any King will be made from Twin XL's. All Dunlop pieces are solid.

Some people recommend mixing Talalay comfort layers and Dunlop support cores, but this typically isn't necessary or the ideal use for either latex type.

What are the warranty requirments for bed frames?

A bed frame is a critical component of a latex mattress. The general rule of thumb is that you want a breathable, rigid surface with more support than air.

For 100% latex mattresses, the maximum distance between slats in 2.5" and the minimum slat width is 2".

For hybrid latex mattress, the maximum distance between slats in 3" and the minimum slat width is 2".

Traditional mattress foundations rarely meet the unique demands of latex rubber. However, nearly any bed-frame or foundation can be brought up to the warranty standard with Coir Bunkie Board.

Does latex have an odour?

Yes, latex has a natural odour. It's not bothersome to most people as it's not a chemical smell, but those with smell sensitives are more likely to notice something. We can air our the components at our factory upon requests. We recommend 2-3 weeks on these cases. Additionally, shredded latex pillows have the strongest odour of all latex products.

How can I bring my exisitng bed frame up to the warranty standard?

There are several ways to bring an existing bed frame up the warranty standard. Our preferred option is Coir Bunkie Board as it's supportive, natural and breathable. Our next favourite is Pegboard. The thin board with holes in it is fairly inexpensive and readily available at most hardware stores. The third option is plywood. Although very supportive, we strongly recommend some breathabilty. Mould is fairly rare problem but there's a greater that zero percent chance of it forming.

What is your shipping policy?

Most items are handmade to order at our factory in Delta, BC, Canada. We strive to ship all orders within 10 business days (Monday to Friday, excluding holidays). Some items may take a little longer, while smaller items often ship in a few business days.

All standard shipping is via the curbside service. What is curbside shipping? The shipping company will deliver the item to your home, but they won't go inside your home or enter common areas found in multi-family dwellings. (eg. Apartment lobby or to a floor in a Condo building). If you live in a very rural area or on a remote island, it may only be possible to deliver to a depot in the nearest town.

What is your return policy?

Due to the nature of our products, all returns will be subject to a 20% re-stocking and recycling fee. Any shipping or delivery related charges are non-refundable.
