This thinner-profile traditional futon packs eight layers of cotton batting to create a traditional futon mattress most suitable for smaller and lighter people.

Not too thin and not too thick, the mid-range all-cotton option is the most popular pick and is suitable for average sized people.

Our thickest all-cotton mattress can be used by people of any stature and is the firmest option new when not accounting for the subsurface.

The finished size will be approximately 2-3" less than the layer count. For example, a Queen 10 Layer will be approximately 7-8" thick.

The length and width may be slightly smaller than standard measurements out of the package (1-4") but will expand naturally with use or by manual stretching and pounding

Due to the nature of cotton batting, we cannot guarantee specific finished sizes, and the above is a general guideline only.

Statistically speaking, your old futon mattress probably contained some foam if it was made in the last 40 years. Foam provides the structure in futons, and there is no way to replace what foam offers.

All-cotton mattresses can NOT be used as seating or sofa beds since they do not have the structure to support themselves in the seating position.

Raw cotton batting is not completely odourless. The majority of people won't smell anything, but people with smell sensitivities may notice an earthy smell.

All-cotton mattresses are at their softest level new and will get progressively firmer as the cotton compacts.

The cotton layers will eventually blend together and lump up. Constant turning, flipping, pounding, and rolling are required to reduce—but not eliminate—these inconsistencies.
